Book Review/ Thoughts
I’ve read this book three times so far. This is a story that will never get old to me. I feel like this story has insight to life no matter how old you are. I found a few quotes that really spoke out to me while I read this book again. But I will share those later on. I would like to share with you how I have evolved every time I read this book.
I first read this book in sixth grade. It was our assigned book for us to read and answer questions. At twelve, I use to day dream about living forever. At that age I asked myself, “who wouldn’t want to live forever?” When Tuck said “you don’t realize what it’s like until it’s already done.” That may not have been his exact words, but you still get the jest of it, when he was explaining to Winnie about what it’s like to live forever. And if he could go back and do things differently, he wouldn’t drink the spring the water.
But just like Winnie when I was twelve. To me living forever meant you had more time to do the things you like and enjoy, without the worry of running out of time. Time would be endless. You could spend your whole life learning, exploring and switch up careers if you get bored.
When I was in my mid twenties when I read this story again. I wished that Winnie would have drank the spring water when she turned seventeen. So, her and Jesse could live happily…
